![]() ![]() can a cracked steam game seriously mess up steam and completely damage it? or it cant and everything will be fine when i completely exit and restart steam? thus from now on the best thing is to completely exit steam before i play any steam games i thought that disabling the steam overlay is the solution but then both ni no kuni 2 and final fantasy 7 wouldn't launch when i ran gris firstĬonclusion: it's random and what happens is different in each steam game. i disabled the steam overlay and then i ran a plague innocence while steam was running and then i quit and i tried to run ni no kuni 2 and final fantasy 7. the same thing also happened with final fantasy 7. the game launched but it froze on the black screen. after that i quit the game and i tried to run ni no kuni 2. the steam overlay was enabled and it showed in the game. i guess it was cracked in a way which messes up steamītw i also ran a plague innocence and it also has cracked steam files. i didnt add gris to the steam library and i ran it separately. If it isn't the same, the only thing that I can think of is to make absolutely sure that your cracked game can't access the internet in any way, in case it's still got some sort of "call-home" type of DRM. This all happened just a few hours ago, so it may be similar to the issue that you're having. That can cause problems if you forget to make sure that Steam is working first. I think the problem was simply that I didn't have Steam running when I turned on the script extender's custom game launcher. I thought that a mod had broken my game, but I just needed to turn Steam off completely and restart it. I was in the middle of putting my mod list together, and needed to check to make sure that everything was working before I kept going, so that if something was broken, I'd have a smaller pile of mods to sift through and find the problem. ![]() I don't know anything about cracked games specifically, but I can tell you that I had the same thing happen when trying to test a modded "Fallout: New Vegas". it look like that the latest version of steam doesnt work well with cracked games that have cracked steam files Steam is frequently getting updated and recently they redesigned the library gui. i have been playing a mixture of cracked games and original steam games for the past 10 years and i have never had this issue What is going on and why am i having this weird issue? it started happening yesterday. elmia works ok and it starts after i exit gris the weird thing is that not all steam games are affected by gris if steam is running in the background when i am playing gris. if a cracked game doesnt have cracked steam files then it doesnt affect steam if it's running in the background and i can play steam games after i exit the cracked game. If steam is not running in the background when i am playing gris then final fantasy 7 and ni no kuni 2 will work when i open steam. i need to completely exit steam by closing it from the icons in the lower right and then i have to reopen steam and then both steam games work when i run them the popup shows, then goes away, then comes back, then goes away and it's stuck in a loop and the games dont start. If i run gris and steam is running in the background then i am unable to run final fantasy 7 and ni no kuni 2 and i am stuck on the steam popup which says preparing game. 1) gris - it is a cracked game by codex and it has cracked steam files in game directoryĢ) final fantasy 7 - an original steam game ![]()
